The film traces how humans have made art from the earliest recorded times. From pre-Renaissance, to the 21st century, we explore the changes in expression and freedom of art over time. The film traces how humans have made art from the earliest recorded times. Until the fundamental changes in the way societies viewed themselves during the Renaissance, artists were considered servants of rulers. This is true of all human groups throughout the world. Now in the age of individual freedom, artists have come to enjoy a new role. The film explores this change, and how art has come to be such a powerful and fruitful force in our daily lives.
