The empathy gap : the bridge to real connection and lasting influence

Murray, Daniel (Consultant)2025
Book
Post-pandemic, the world is more divided than ever before. The internet and social media are driving increased polarisation and demonisation, and this combative behaviour is feeding into the workplace, with leaders viewing staff as assets rather than individuals worthy of respect and compassion. Large-scale projects run overtime and over budget, redundancies in the tech industry are reaching catastrophic proportions, and managers are at a loss as to how to lead in this new world. People are inherently unpredictable in nature and can't be boiled down to a number. We are constantly being influenced by our surroundings, the people we work with and the many various pressures that affront us outside of work. Our workplaces are increasingly filled with pressure, stress and complexity that impacts different people in different ways on different days. With the rapid evolution of technology transforming industries and spawning new ones constantly, this change won't stop. We can't put on the brakes. We can't divide and conquer. To get the most out of each other, we need support.
